Launched in 1997, the Singapore Quality Class (SQC) is a scheme to recognise organisations that have attained a commendable level of performance in the journey to achieve world-class standards of excellence. Membership in the SQC is determined by the organisation's level of performance measured against the Service Quality Award (SQA) model. TJC officially received the SQC Award from Spring Singapore in 2003. The College is also a recipient of Best Practice Award (BPA) in Teaching & Learning from the Ministry of Education. The SQC Award meant that the College has joined some 200 national organisations that have attained a high level of performance in education, service and business excellence. The SQC framework is a set of categories that encompass various aspects of world-class educational excellence. They include leadership, strategic planning, operational and administrative efficiency, staff and student welfare and development, and key results in the cognitive, social, moral, aesthetic and leadership domains, all of which are accorded certain weightage based on a point system. "Getting the SQC is a key milestone in TJC's journey and brings us one step closer to achieving world-class standards of educational excellence", says Mrs Lim Lai Cheng, principal of TJC. "We embarked on the SQC journey to benchmark our programmes against that of the best educational institutions in Singapore and the world. Attaining SQC and the BPA (Teaching & Learning) is an indication that the College is moving in the right direction by way of academic excellence, strategic directions and innovation." ![]() In 2005, TJC was also awarded the People Developer Standard, a recognition of the College's emphasis on people practices, staff development and training effectiveness.
