Mother Tongue

The subjects Chinese, Malay and Tamil are offered from the Mother Tongue Department.
The Mother Tongue curriculum in Temasek Academy aims to instill in students a love for the respective languages and cultures. The department has designed a broad based curriculum, which includes the Ministry of Education Mother Tongue Syllabuss and a school-based syllabus to suit the many learning needs of our TA students. Furthermore, students who go through the Mother Tongue programme are also groomed into confident communicators in their respective languages.
To achieve such aims, students are engaged in creative and exciting activities such as film-making, staging drama productions, outdoor classroom experiences and creative writing. Songs, movies and other forms of multimedia are used to enrich the classroom experience.
高级华文
课程内容
华文的课程内容主要以教育部制定的课本为教学材料,教导学生理解课文的技巧。在这基础之上,学上还会接受由本院教师特别设计的写作与阅读理解训练,让他们有充足的准备去应付综合课程第二年年末的O水准考试。
专题作业
学生必须参与专题作业的制作,以提高他们多方面的语言能力。学生还有机会和其他同学分享自己的作品,互相学习。一些学生作品分享会的例子就有看图创作、新闻播报、《春满绿园》、《武松打虎》等。
深广活动
为了增进学生对于华文的兴趣并增加他们对于华文与华族文化的知识,课程还包括了电影赏析、到原貌馆的学习之旅、主办母语文化常识比赛等深广活动。


Higher Malay Language
Curriculum
The curriculum aims to instill in students a sense of connectedness with the Malay language and culture. Students will be equipped with skills to acquire and disseminate information effectively and also to generate, analyse and evaluate ideas critically through the use of Malay language. It also aims to develop their interest and love for the Malay language.
Enrichment
Lesson conducted is more student-centred as it focuses on discovery, analytical and critical thinking, problem-solving, and lastly, language and cultural appreciation. They are also exposed to a variety of mediums and resources to allow them to identify, understand and relate to the history, language and culture of the Malays.
