“TJC is the COOLEST JC ever!”

YEAH! With Switchfoot, in TJC (EXCLUSIVELY, may I remind you), and two local bands West Grand Boulevard and Caracal, perhaps “cool” would be a tad too mild to describe TJC right now.

Switchfoot, in Singapore for the first time ever, burst into the campus with a flurry of guitars, cameras and shaggy hair. TJCians magically transformed into a bunch of shy, giggling schoolgirls and boys. The one-and-a-half hour press conference was held in the College recital studio and then it was off to the auditorium for the concert!

The concert was hosted by The Muttons from 98.7FM, and opened with Caracal. Hip TJCians rushed to the front, and the auditorium was temporarily converted into a mosh pit. And when West Grand came on and got everybody on their feet, the crowd finally began to turn the heat on, and exploded when Switchfoot came on. Although the full band did not play (it was an acoustic set by Jon Foreman, the lead singer), TJCians took it all in, singing along fanatically.

I guess we have to thank Switchfoot and the local bands for unleashing our Inner Groupie. The sight of TJCians bobbing their heads to the bands’ awesome music was a sight to behold.

This concert was made possible by Invasion Productions Singapore and supported by the College leaders who recognized the need for us to let our hair down. What a glorious day!
